Google Wallet is the Android equivalent of Apple Wallet. Once your card is saved there, sharing is a tap: open Wallet, pick your card, the QR code is on screen.
What you need
- An Android phone with Google Wallet installed (most newer Android phones ship with it).
- A Google account signed into Wallet.
- Your card already created on businesscards.io.
How to save your card to Google Wallet
- On your Android phone, open your card. The easiest way is to scan your QR code with the camera, or open your card link directly in Chrome.
- Look for the Save to Google Wallet button on the card's share screen.
- Tap it. Google Wallet opens with a preview of your pass.
- Tap Save.
The pass is now in your Google Wallet. Open Wallet anytime and your card is there, ready to share.
Sharing from Google Wallet
- Open Google Wallet on your phone.
- Tap your businesscards.io pass.
- The QR code fills the screen. Show it to the other person.
- They scan it with their phone camera. Your card opens for them.
Updates to the pass
When you edit your card on the website, the pass updates automatically. You don't need to re-add it. The QR code points to your live card URL, so any change you make is reflected the moment you save.
Removing the pass
Open the pass in Google Wallet, tap the three-dot menu, and tap Remove pass (or "Delete pass" depending on the Wallet version). You can re-add it any time from your card's share screen.
What about cross-platform?
The Google Wallet pass works only on Android. If you have both an iPhone and an Android phone, you'd add the card to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Google Wallet on Android separately. The underlying QR codes point to the same public URL though, so sharing works the same way regardless of which device you're using at the moment.
