Zapier connects businesscards.io to thousands of other apps. The most common use is triggering a Zap whenever someone fills in a contact-back form or custom lead form. From there, you can push the new contact to a Google Sheet, Slack channel, email autoresponder, Notion database, your CRM, anything Zapier supports.
Zapier is available on the Team plan and above.
Before you start
- You need a Zapier account (free tier is fine for low-volume cards).
- You need your businesscards.io team API key. See getting your team API key.
Adding businesscards.io to your Zap
- In Zapier, click Create Zap.
- For the trigger, search for businesscards.io and pick it.
- Pick the trigger event. The most common one is New Contact (fires whenever a contact is captured on any of your cards).
- Click Continue.
- Zapier asks you to connect your businesscards.io account. Paste in the team API key when prompted.
- Click Test trigger. Zapier pulls a recent contact to verify the connection works. If you haven't captured any contacts yet, capture one (submit your own contact form once) and try again.
Building the rest of the Zap
Once the trigger is set up, the rest of the Zap is whatever Zapier supports. A few examples:
- Add row to Google Sheets: Pipe new contacts into a running spreadsheet.
- Send Slack message: Get a Slack ping every time someone shares their info.
- Create Mailchimp subscriber: Add new contacts to a mailing list.
- Create Notion page: Drop new contacts into a Notion CRM.
- Send SMS via Twilio: Get a text message for high-priority contacts.
Field mapping
The trigger gives Zapier every field on the contact: first name, last name, email, phone, company, title, notes, source card, source form, submission timestamp, and (for custom forms) every custom field answer. Map whichever fields the downstream app needs.
Multiple Zaps
You can build as many Zaps off the same trigger as you want. Common pattern: one Zap to log everything to Google Sheets, a second Zap to send a Slack ping, a third to add to Mailchimp. They all fire on the same contact event without stepping on each other.
Webhook details
Under the hood, Zapier subscribes to a webhook on our side using your API key. New contacts trigger an immediate POST to the Zapier endpoint, so Zaps fire within seconds. If Zapier is briefly unavailable, our system queues the event and retries.
