Every businesscards.io card comes with a QR code. Sharing your card means showing that code to someone; they point their phone camera at it and your card opens on their phone. No app needed on their side, and it works the same whether you carry an iPhone or an Android phone.
Sharing flow
- Bring up your QR code (see the platform-specific ways below).
- Hold your phone toward the other person.
- They open their phone camera — no app needed on most phones — and aim it at the code. A link appears.
- They tap the link. Your profile page opens in their browser.
From there they can call you, email you, save your contact, send their info back, or follow you on whichever social networks you've linked.
Bringing up the code on iPhone
Add your card to Apple Wallet and the QR code is two seconds away: double-tap the side button (or top button on older Touch ID phones), swipe to the businesscards.io pass if it isn't on top, and the code is on the front of the pass. See adding your card to Apple Wallet. If your iPhone is paired with an Apple Watch set to mirror Wallet, the pass lives on your wrist too.
Bringing up the code on Android
Add your card to Google Wallet and open the pass to show the QR code — see adding your card to Google Wallet. You can also open your card's public page in any browser and tap the QR button, or save the QR image to your photos for offline use. More options in using businesscards.io on Android.
What the pass looks like
Wallet passes show your name, job title, company logo (if you've added one), and a big QR code. On Team plans and above you can match the pass background to your brand color. Passes update automatically when you edit your card, so if you change jobs you don't need to ask anyone to re-add it.
What it isn't
The QR code is just a fast way to hand someone a link. It doesn't store every detail of your card. When someone scans it, they go to your live profile page on the web, which is always current. That's why edits to your card show up everywhere without anyone re-downloading anything.
