When someone leaves the company, takes a different role, or just shouldn't be on the team anymore, an owner removes them in a few clicks. The cards and contacts they were associated with stay with the team; only the person's access goes away.
Who can remove members
Only team owners. Regular members can't remove other people, including themselves. (To leave a team you don't own, ask an owner to remove you.)
How to remove a member
- Sign in and open Settings → Members.
- Find the member in the list.
- Click the menu icon next to their row.
- Click Remove from team.
- Confirm.
What happens to their cards
Cards they were managing stay in the team. Ownership of those cards is reassigned to the owner who performed the removal (you). The cards themselves are unchanged: same URLs, same QR codes, same Apple/Google Wallet passes. Visitors won't notice anything different.
If you want to reassign a specific card to a different member after the removal, edit the card and change the assigned user from your dashboard.
What happens to contacts they captured
Contacts collected on the team's cards belong to the team, not to the individual member. They stay in the team's contacts dashboard and remain accessible to owners and to any member who has access to the relevant cards.
What happens to the removed person
The person can still sign in to their businesscards.io account. They no longer see your team in their team switcher. If they belong only to your team (no personal team of their own), they keep their account but have no cards until they're added to another team or create one of their own.
Apple/Google Wallet passes they had installed for cards they no longer manage still work, because the QR code on those passes still points at your live card. If that's a privacy or compliance concern, ask the person to remove the passes from their Wallet.
Re-adding someone
You can re-invite the same email later. They join back as a regular member by default. Any cards that used to be theirs but were transferred away are not automatically returned; you'd reassign them manually if needed.
