Connecting businesscards.io to Salesforce

The Salesforce integration pushes every new contact captured on a businesscards.io card or form into Salesforce as a Lead. Setup is one OAuth flow, available on the Team plan and above.

What you need

  • A Salesforce org you can authenticate against. Production and sandbox orgs both work.
  • Your Salesforce user has permission to create Leads and to authorize connected apps.
  • You're a team owner on businesscards.io.

Connecting Salesforce

  1. Sign in to businesscards.io and open Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Salesforce in the list and click Connect.
  3. You're redirected to Salesforce's login page. If you use a sandbox or custom domain, switch to it on this screen.
  4. Sign in to Salesforce.
  5. Salesforce shows a permissions prompt for the businesscards.io app. Click Allow.
  6. You're redirected back to businesscards.io. The integration's status now shows as connected, with the Salesforce instance URL listed.

What gets synced

Every new contact captured on one of your cards or forms is created as a Salesforce Lead. The field mapping:

  • First name → FirstName
  • Last name → LastName
  • Email → Email
  • Phone → Phone
  • Company → Company
  • Job title → Title
  • Lead source → "businesscards.io"

Salesforce's required-fields rules (in particular, that a Lead must have a Company) are respected. If a contact submits without a company name, we use the visitor's name as the company so the record can be created.

How the sync runs

Pushes happen in a background job, typically within a few seconds of a contact being submitted. If Salesforce returns an error (rate limit, validation rule failure, token expired), the job retries automatically a few times before giving up. Tokens are refreshed automatically when they expire, so you don't need to reconnect manually unless you revoke the connection on the Salesforce side.

What doesn't sync

  • Existing contacts (those you had before connecting). Only new contacts go through.
  • Edits or deletions made on businesscards.io after the initial push.
  • Custom Salesforce objects. We sync Leads only.

Disconnecting

Open Settings → Integrations, find Salesforce, and click Disconnect. New contacts stop flowing immediately. The Leads already in Salesforce remain.
