Your subscription auto-renews with the card on file. If that card is about to expire, you've gotten a replacement, or you want to switch to a different card, you can update it in a few clicks. Only team owners can change billing info.
How to update your card
- Sign in and click your team name (or avatar) in the top right.
- Open Teams.
- Click your team name to open team details.
- Find the Billing information section.
- Click Edit credit card (or Update payment method).
- Enter the new card number, expiry, and CVC.
- Save.
The new card is on file immediately. The next time we charge you (on your renewal date), the new card will be used. If you're updating because the old one already failed, our system retries the failed payment against the new card right after you save.
If the page asks you to log in to Stripe
The form is hosted directly by our payments provider (Stripe) so your card details never touch our servers. If a redirect or popup appears, that's expected. Complete the update there and you'll come back to businesscards.io.
Mobile-app subscriptions are different
If you started your subscription through the iOS app (an in-app purchase via Apple), Apple is the merchant of record. The payment method for the subscription is managed in Apple's Subscriptions settings on your iPhone (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions), not on businesscards.io. The dashboard will tell you if your subscription is Apple-managed.
Why this matters
If a renewal payment fails (most often because the card on file expired and we didn't have the new one), your subscription enters a past-due state. After a few retries, it pauses. While paused, your public card URLs keep redirecting to a placeholder; people who scan your QR code see a page saying the card is unavailable. Updating your payment method while you're past-due triggers an immediate retry and brings everything back online.
